I am Mexican and spent most of my life in a small coastal town in Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta. However, I was born in Portland, Oregon. Like many others, my parents moved to the U.S. for better opportunities, stable jobs, and an improved quality of life.

Things worked out for a time, but eventually, they chose to return to Mexico. They missed their family, and without legal status, uncertainty about the future was a constant worry.

Looking back, I see how fortunate my parents were. They had a stable life, but not everyone is as lucky. Many immigrants never get the chance to realize their dreams fully. Some are forced to stop halfway.
