My name is Yunuen, and I was born in Queretaro, Mexico. At the age of six, I immigrated to the United States. I spent my childhood moving across Georgia, Florida, and Alabama before finally settling in Austin, Texas, when I was 14.
Being an undocumented child was challenging. I struggled with English and often faced ridicule for my accent. Despite the hardships, my mother never wavered. She taught me resilience, kindness, and integrity. Her strength shaped my belief in standing up for what is right and serving my community.
At 15, I became a DACA recipient, a turning point that gave me opportunities I never thought possible. With a work permit, I was able to pursue higher education. I graduated from Texas State University in 2020 with a degree in Journalism & Mass Communication (Digital Media concentration) and a minor in Diversity Studies. I am working on a master’s degree in Sustainability Studies, with additional experience in sociology and philosophy.
I work at Houston Texas Immigration Lawyers because I am passionate about helping others. Using my skills to support underrepresented communities is deeply fulfilling. I know what it feels like to be lost or unheard, and I dedicate myself daily to ensuring others don’t have to feel that way.
